Still got giftart to do, one more now.

At the moment I'm currently re-attempting to draw several characters/designs that I feel I didn't do too well with starting with Alex. Then Marge, Homer and grownup Sherri.

It's just something quick. It's basicly a character design, I'm just giving them proper titles now.

This one came out quite well, the boots kick ass in my opinion and the colours look good enough. One thing I liked about Alex was that she's pretty strange (you know there's something wrong when Lisa says you're weird) and certainly pretentious but wasn't just pointlessly mean, kind of like a nice version of the libby, of course except in the episode Father knows worst. I really don't like that episode.

Also, the fashion follower/shallow girl was something unusual to the other students back then until the writers felt it neccessary to pollute the episode with about 10 other high school stereotypes who are pretty much no different to eachother instead of using, pfft, already existing characters who have personalities.

I like her. But she isn't one of my favourite character... in my opinion she isn't the most beautiful of the girls and she isn't so intelligent...

LOVE the light colour palette you've used here. Plus, Alex's hat and hairstyle are simply endearing, I just want to hug her!

I quite enjoyed this character; for the most part comes across as shallow, but unlike the similar stereotypes, Alex actually means well. ^^

Thanks.:D Been busy lately?

Agreed. It really helped to set her apart from the others, although what she says usually comes out wrong.

Yeah, admittedly I have! XD

I've been working alot of overtime (56 hours a week! @_@!)

My favorite line from Alex's episode:

"Oh, act your age." The ending was very sweet (and semi disgusting, but what're ya gonna do!)

Same here in a different way.:)

I think my top moment would be:

Alex: Your name's Lisa? Shut up, I love that name!
Lisa: Did she just tell me to shut up?
Skinner: Take it outside!

There's just something about the execution of that scene that's so funny.

They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't.:)

I haven't done anything for a few days but there's been some updates while you've been gone. If you have time to look at them then that would be awesome. It's okay if you don't though.

Thanks, I somehow felt I left you down earlier with the Bart n' Alex pic, I was so out of practice. The colour scheme, clothes are alright aren't they?

Don't worry about it, the pic was cool. I was just not used to the paler color scheme of that pic compared to the richer colors of your other works,is all. Alex looked hot. :)

Well for the most part I thought some of the colours were harmful to the eyes so I greyed over it ever so slightly.

I liked her even though I usually don't like that kind of person. I think the reason I liked her is because she eventually gave in to Lisa's ideas in the end of her featured episode. I like how you drew her. Her clothes are better here in my opinion.

I usually don't like that kind of person ver, although that's because ALL of the other girls of that kind are invariably bitchy, pointlessly mean and snobby to everyone. The best summary can be found here. [link]

Also, I liked the fact that she was considered an oddity by the other kids until season 20 introduced several dime-a-dozen libbies who, despite not having a hint of personality, had a more prominent role in the episode then the characters that actaully work.

Aww come on. I thought Alex was great. The "shallow diva" is my favorite high school stereotype.

The scene where she gives Lisa the earrings was my favorite. <33

I like Alex too (why the hell else would I draw her) my problem was with the other ten shallow girls from Father knows worst who, unlike Alex, are free from having a personality. Their mere presence depreciated Alex's character. I like Alex though, though I preferred it when she was considered weird at the school.

You can rest easy. She wasn't actually in "Father Knows Worst" (I double-checked). To my knowledge she hasn't made another appearance in the show since "Lard of the Dance". She remains the Alex we remember and love. :)

I think the writers are adding more one-off "shallow/preppy/clique-y(is that even a word?;))" girls to appeal to the modern girl-viewers, trying to be "up-to-date"...and failing:). (Correct me if I'm wrong, though;))

I guess the fact that the others were in their dance clothes (with different colours) kinda throws me off. Still, it was definately Allsion and the others who were laughing at not-Alex's quip so I can't rest so easily.

I think they're adding more of the one-off clique girls because it's easier than using characters with defining traits. They're also doing it to already existing characters too, look no further than Sherri and Terri in the Simpsons game (Xbox or PS3 version).:X

I haven't really progressed that far in the game to meet them head-to-head yet. Although, I've stood near them when one of them wanders through the streets of Springfield so I could listen to their comments, and what do they talk about? Milhouse! I mean, of all the comments the creators could have scripted for them, they chose MILHOUSE of all people! They don't even like him (except for that time in the episode "Little Orphan Millie", when he had that angsty rebel thing going on)!

Is that during the alien invasion?

The worst line from either of them that I can think of is when you get them to wait on the elevator on the overworld, they have two quotes for that and one of Sherri's was "One day I'm going to jail, just like Paris Hilton." God, I bet poor Russi felt unclean just reading that line.:X

It's a shame too since some of their moments are funny in an unintentional way.

Heyyy now, it's OK. I've drawn characters I've hated, although I'm sorry if my previous comment felt like I was implying that you disliked her.

Is that the episode where the girls decorate their cellphones? (sorry, if I don't have it on DVD to watch and rewatch, I'll only vaguely remember the plot)

I don't blame you for thinking that, it was a long description.:) I just really felt that the girls in that episode (yes it's the cell phone one) and the one that followed it (the Waverly hills one) totally comprimised Alex's individuality as a notable character, it's like if Peter Griffin was a Simpsons character and multiplied by fifteen. Not to mention Alex herself and Lisa's other pals (especially Allison) were unforgivavly out of character, I consider Alex to be quite nice if a bit pretentious.:)

Yeah, that's why I liked her too. Like I just said, the earring scene is my favorite: she goes from being nice, giving a gift, to making some vicious remark about how Lisa can use them as an accessory for her dolls... but then follows up with a supportive "I'm sure you'll be ready someday" comment (idk, was that what she said? something like that).

I wouldn't call her remark viscious, calling her a baby would be viscious, she was just kidding around.:)

I think you got the follow up comment right.

I thought it was kinda mean :XD: I can't really think of anything meaner that she directly said to Lisa (other than her advice to lose some weight, but it's not like she went on and on about how fat and disgusting she was).

I don't even think her "lose five pounds" remark was that mean either. Quite a few people have said worse about her in the series.

I wish they would give the One-time Springfield Kids, their Personalities back. I hated that scene as well. :X

I do agree, they shouldn't of added too many mean characters. They could of used Francine, Sarah, and her friends.

Not to mention twisting the existing characters into the other shallow girls, even if it was Sherri or Terri who said Alex's line the characterization would be off to a lesser extent.

What did Alex say again?

I thought it was strange when Allison was laughing with the other girls. I thought at least she would of told them to leave her alone.

I like the outfit you gave her.

When Lisa asked if the seat was taken Alex replied something along the lines of "No you can take it, take it over there!" I honestly couldn't imagine any of Lisa's friends being that harsh. If Allison had said that I would have to kill someone.

I just watched the episode again, and I don't think that was actually Alex; the hair is the wrong color and her nose was a different shape. I think she and the girl beside her were just invented for that scene just like all the other "preppy" girls in the cafeteria that have never been seen before.

And I also think that they gave the other familiar girls those recolored outfits from "Lard of the Dance" because they wanted fancier clothes to match what the other "new" girls were wearing, and just got lazy and copied them from that earlier episode instead of inventing new ones.

For me it would be Allison, Alex, Janey, Sherri and Terri, although the last two like to push Lisa's buttons but from my experiance a lot of friends do that.

Maggie could also count since she and Lisa technically aren't related.
